Where the cost goes
For a typical 100 m² home in Bengaluru or Chennai installing a hybrid (storage + recharge) system:
- Storage tank (5,000 L): 40–60% of total cost. PVC/HDPE is cheaper; RCC built-in is durable but 2–3× the price per litre.
- Recharge pit: 15–25% of total cost. A 1 m × 6 m recharge well with concrete rings + gravel runs ₹15,000– 30,000.
- Piping, first-flush diverter, filter media: 10–15% of total cost. The first-flush diverter is the single most-important quality signal — skip it and your tank fills with leaf debris.
- Labour, excavation, plumbing: 15–20% of total cost. Excavation labour scales with depth + soil type.

- Small home (100 m² roof, basic storage): ₹20,000–₹40,000
- Mid home (150 m² roof, hybrid): ₹40,000– ₹80,000
- Premium home (200 m² roof, hybrid + RCC): ₹80,000–₹1.5 lakh
- Small society (10–20 flats, hybrid): ₹2– ₹5 lakh
- Mid society (60 flats, hybrid): ₹3–₹7 lakh
- Large society (200+ flats, hybrid + recharge): ₹8–₹10 lakh
