Solar loan EMI — frequently asked
What interest rate do solar loans charge in India?
Concessional rooftop-solar loans from public-sector banks typically run about 6.5–10% per year. The exact rate depends on the lender and your credit profile.
Can I get a loan for the full solar system?
Many banks finance the net cost (after the government subsidy) or the full system upfront. Rooftop-solar loans are commonly unsecured up to about ₹2 lakh and secured for larger amounts.
What loan tenure should I choose?
3 to 10 years is common. A longer tenure lowers your monthly EMI but increases the total interest you pay over the life of the loan.
Does the subsidy reduce my loan amount?
Yes. You typically finance the net cost after the ₹78,000 subsidy, or the bank adjusts the subsidy when it is disbursed to your account. Find your net cost first with the subsidy calculator.
Will my solar savings cover the EMI?
Often, for a well-sized system — the monthly electricity-bill savings can offset much or all of the EMI. Run a full estimate to see your net monthly position after financing.
